Summer Camps 2010 for children ages 3 - 9

June 7 - August 5 Monday - Thursday 9:00a - 12:30p & 12:30p - 4:00p Cost is $88/week for either AM or PM session
Please bring a lunch and/or an afternoon snack.
June 7 - 10 Fantasy Art Camp (AM): A world full of fairies, dragons, and trolls. In this camp we値l create amazing art that lives only in our imagination. We値l make dream puppets, fairy houses, and fly around the room with our very own wings. Kings and Queens will build castles and ride unicorns. (ages 3-6)
Circus Art Camp (PM): Meet us under the big tent! We will be clowns, acrobats, and jugglers. We will walk on a tightrope. We値l read books about the circus and create circus animals and art that can only be made in the center ring. Join us for the Greatest Show on Earth! (ages 3-6)
June 14 - 17
Outer Space Adventure (AM): Come ride a giant space ship to the moon or build your own robot or alien. We値l design the most exciting art in the universe and learn all about the solar system. This is a science camp for the preschool explorer and rocketeer. (ages 3-6)
Spanish: Vivan los Animales (PM): A camp specially designed to introduce preschoolers to a new language. Children will learn Spanish while creating art, singing songs, and making puppets of their favorite animals. This camp offers a multi-sensory approach to learning a new language in a way preschoolers will love. Join us for the Fiesta! (ages 3-6)
June 21 - 24
Play with Paint (AM): Drip, splat, and swish. How many ways are there to explore paint? We値l turn everyday objects into paint brushes, spin art, make veggie prints, t-shirts, and spray splatter paint for colorful, messy fun! Come join the rainbow. (ages 3 - 6)
Spanish: Hola, the Explorer (PM): This is the Spanish camp where you get to be Dora and Diego. We will create bug jars, fossils, binoculars, and carry around our own magical backpack full of adventure. A perfect summer camp for the young explorer. (ages 3 - 6)
June 28 - July 1
Puppets, Puppets Everywhere (AM): Join Heart of the Beast artist Julie to make one-of-a-kind puppets. We will create rod puppets, shadow puppets, giant paper bag puppets, & create our own puppet show. We値l even have local puppeteers come in and perform for us. Let the wild rumpus begin! (ages 3 - 6)
Spanish: Bajo del Mar (PM): The camp that dives into the ocean. We値l explore sea creatures, sunken ships, and watery arts while learning new and exciting words, songs, and animals in Spanish. (ages 3 - 6)
July 5 - 8
I Dig Dinos (AM) Travel back in time and walk with giant lizards! We will find fossils., host a volcanic eruption, and play with dinosaurs big and small. Dig for bones, create great art, & have fun in this dino-rific camp! (ages 3 - 6)
Spanish: Alrededor (PM): The music class for children who love Spanish. We will build our own drums, flutes, and other instruments while learning new songs and dances in Spanish. We will make ribbon sticks and dance the afternoon away! (ages 3 - 6)
July 12 - 15
Wacky Water and Summer Fun (AM) Get wild and wet! This is the summer camp where we create sharks, build a pirate ship, and sail out into the sea looking for mermaids and giant sea monsters! We will look at all the wonderful art that you create with lots of water and a little bit of sun. Please bring a towel, swimsuit, and sunscreen. (ages 4 - 6)
Spanish II: The Woman who Outshone the Sun (PM) Comecelebrate the wonderful art of Mexico through stories and songs. This class is designed for students who already know some Spanish and want to expand their vocabulary. We will have different stories, music, and food each day. (ages 4 - 6)
July 19 - 22
Mighty Magic Camp (AM) Create a magical world where rabbits come out of hats and sticks become magic wands. Poof - you're a frog! Mix your own magic potions like Harry Potter. Wear a wizard cap and magic cape home on your first day. What kind of wizard will you be? (ages 3 - 6)
Bugs, Bedlam, and Butterflies (PM) What is the difference between a bug and an insect? Do worms have eyes? What do butterflies eat? In this camp we will look with magnifying glasses into a secret world where wonderful creatures live. The perfect camp for the young environmentalist. (ages 3 - 6)
July 26 - 29
mePods & Giant Structures (AM): If you could design a world inside a refrigerator box, would it have fur or a radio? Would you build an elevator or a telescope for viewing the night sky? In this camp, you can create your own world just the way you want it. We will look at the way structures are built and learn the basics of architecture. (ages 5 - 9)
Mad Science & Basic Robotics (PM) Design and build your own robot that draws and paints, create a volcanic eruption and a rocket that flies high into the air. This is the camp for the young scientist and explorer. If you like to take things apart and learn how they work, this camp is for you! (ages 5 - 9)
August 2 - 5
Archaeologists Unite! (AM) We are the people covered in dinosaur dust, searching for treasure in the sand. In this camp you will pound through giant plaster ruins to find old coins, jewels, and sometimes even gold. You値l find fossils and piece together dinosaur skeletons. We need diggers, sifters, and treasure hunters. We need you! (ages 5 - 9)
Photography and Printmaking (PM) How do you view the world? Do you like to take photos upside-down, or close-up shots of bugs walking on grass? In this class, we will explore using digital cameras and make our own photo prints. We will also look at the world of printmaking, from mono-prints to etching. We will supply a few cameras, a printing press, and lots of fun! (ages 5 - 9)
