Arts Integrated Learning—integrates hands-on, arts-infused educational and cultural activities to address core academic content while serving under-addressed needs of youth with unique learning styles unaddressed in traditional classrooms. Many Urban Arts students don’t fare well in traditional classrooms. Urban Arts employs Arts Integration because it merges the learning of process and content and develops both independence and collaboration; and makes it possible to use personal strengths in meaningful ways and bridge understanding of difficult abstractions through these strengths.
Community Building—builds cooperative learning, communication, and interpersonal skills while addressing social issues through small group and community art activities. Urban Arts promotes good relations among all through the Arts which provide a common language that cuts across racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers while enhancing cultural appreciation and awareness.
